Q. Where is the valuer/surveyor?

A. If the valuer hasn't arrived at the agreed time please call our Customer Service Unit on 0845 602 2222.

Q. Why do I need a valuation on the property I am purchasing?

A. Your mortgage Lender will need a valuation to make sure the property is worth the amount you want to borrow and is suitable for a mortgage.

Q. Why do I need a Survey?

A valuation is only a brief inspection and a report on a property. A survey will give you a much more detailed inspection and report and will give you the information you need to help you make your decision to purchase.

Q. How do I instruct a valuation/survey?

A. Simply fill out our online form and someone from the Colleys team will call you to discuss your requirements.

Q. Once the valuer/surveyor has been out to visit my property how long will it take for the report to come through?

A. A valuation report should be with you in 2 to 3 working days. A survey report will be with you in about 5 days but could be longer depending on issues found.

Q. Who should I contact?

A. See our glossary or call 0845 602 2222. If the issues are legal you need to discuss these with your conveyancer.

Q. What should I do/Who should I contact if the survey highlights problems with my property?

A. You can discuss any issues you have with the surveyor or valuer who visited the property. Their number is on the letter you received from us. If the issues are legal you need to discuss with your conveyancer.

Q. What does RICS qualified mean?

A. RICS is the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

Q. When will I get my report?

A. Mortgage Valuation should be returned to you within 3 days and Colleys Property Check within 5 days.

Q. I want a private valuation, can you please provide me with a quote?

Q. How can I check on the status of my valuation/survey?

A. Call our Customer Service Unit on 0845 602 2222 and they will be able to help.

Q. Can I instruct you directly, over the phone?

A. Unfortunately we are unable to accept telephone instructions. You can e-mail your instructions to Colleys@HBOSplc.com or fax it to us on 0121 234 1030 or fill out our online form.

Q. The instruction from my lender will not have come through to you as yet - but can I book the appointment anyway?

A. Unfortunately we cannot book appointments until the instruction has been received.

Q. Can you tell me the name of the valuer who carried out the Valuation/Survey?

A. Their name should be on the letter you have received from us. Alternatively call us on 0845 602 2222 and we will check it for you.
